Festival Information for 2014 - 2015
It's not long to go until the TSB Bank Festival of Lights transforms Pukekura Park into an illuminated night-time wonderland again!
This summer the magical festival runs from Sunday 14 December 2014 to Saturday 24 January 2015, with exciting new lighting features, entertainment and family activities.
The On Stage night entertainment is supported by TSB Community Trust and runs from Boxing Day, Friday 26 December to the end of the festival. Performance time's for the Hatchery Lawn stage (six days a week excluding Mondays) will be 8.30pm to 10.00pm and the Boat Shed Lawn (Friday, Saturday, Sunday evenings only) will be 8.00pm to 9.30pm. The On Stage programme includes a wide range of high calibre local and national performances.
Summer Scene, sponsored by Tag Oil and Horizon Energy Services, is the daytime events programme for children and families. It includes a fun scavenger hunt, a big beach dig, craft making and magician shows.
Twilight Movies in the Park sponsored by ITL is a magical experience, bring your blanket and pillow to the Boat Shed Lawn for a comfy spot under the stars amongst the wonderland of illuminated trees.
The Lighting Installations are the jewels in the park and change year on year however the sleeping giant, the jelly fish and the black light area are popular festival favourites.
Keep an eye out for the programme in your letter box on 10 December in the North Taranaki Midweek and 11 December in the South Taranaki Star. Alternatively pick up a copy from any i-site in Taranaki, TSB Bank branch or New Plymouth District Council or view the programme on the festival website from 10 December onwards.
Voted the 'Best Established Community Event' in New Zealand by the New Zealand Association of Event Professionals!
The TSB Bank Festival of Lights was voted the Best Established Community Event in New Zealand. The award was made at the New Zealand Association of Event Professionals Awards on 6 August 2014 and recognises excellence in an event delivered to meet local community needs or provide an enhanced experience. Judging criteria included consideration of the event theme, meeting the needs of the community, the level and number of organisations involved, local media support and use of good management practice.
The festival would not be possible without the support of a wide range of funders and sponsors, local and national contractors, entertainers and a wonderful team of volunteers. Thank you to everyone for making this the best community event in New Zealand... and that’s official!
